Denver native Gabriel Mark Hasselbach -- a Jazz Force to be reckoned with - is debuting not one, but two CDs in the US this fall -- "Gabriel's Horns" for the smooth jazz format and "Come Out Swingin'" (featuring guest vocalist Michael Bublé) for traditional jazz lovers.
Gabriel, a smooth jazz icon in Canada since 1981 with his first release on PolyGram (Solar Winds), is an original member of the multi-platinum Powder Blues Band. When he left Powder Blues to pursue a solo career, he's never looked back, with nine releases under his own name (ALL recently remastered and reissued), and many European and US releases, some as compilations with artists such as Al Jarreau, Chaka Khan, Lee Ritenour, Sade, etc.
"Gabriel may look like a mild mannered young executive with a horn, but appearances mask a funkmeister of diverse talents." Elle O'Day of Vancouver's Georgia Straight observes. Further, Alex Varty from the same publication says about Gabriel: "His abilities as a composer are on a par with his competence as a musician and I have no trouble seeing his material being picked up by others."
